There is very important refresh to Section 508. This means federal agencies, businesses that sell to or receive funds from a federal agency (which includes K12 school districts) will have until January, 2018 to make their websites AA compliant. The 12 month clock will officially start ticking from the date that the rules are published in the National Register.
Blackboard will be upgrading any Classic Headlines & Features App, Classic Article Library App and Flex Editor App to their modern counterparts this summer (2017). They will also be upgrading the WYSIWYG editor used for MiniBase Custom Views and HTML Broadcast E-alerts.
These upgrades will not change any existing content on your site. Instead, they will enable you to create content that is adaptive, accessible, consistent and integrated for your website visitors. There will be multiple upgrades of many of your other apps in previous releases and this will be a similar experience.
More information to follow.
Check out our Sample Apps Channel to learn about each of the available apps and view examples of how they can be used. If you or someone in your district have a creative use of an app to share, we would love to show it off. Please email a link to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Free Siteimprove Accessibility Checker is a tool to evaluate any web page for accessibility issues in real time.
